CERN gears up to cool LHC down

The CERN cryogenics team are filling the LHC with liquid helium, cooling entire sections to below 4 degrees kelvin (-269.15°C) in preparation for the LHC restart in 2015. Some 120 tonnes of helium are used to cool the LHC to temperatures colder than outer space. How can we explain the world’s largest cryogenic system in 30 seconds? #RestartLHC -Producer- CERN Video Productions -Director- Noemi Caraban Paola Catapano -Camera- Ronaldus Suykerbuyk -Visual Effects- Piotr Traczyk -Actor- Dominique Bertola -Infography- Daniel Dominguez Noemi Caraban You can follow us in: http://www.cern.ch http://www.youtube.com/cerntv http://google.com/+CERN http://www.facebook.com/cern http://twitter.com/cern/ http://instagram.com/cern Copyright © 2014 CERN.
